My Story

Hi there! My name is Dina, and I am the owner, herbalist, and creator of Ancient Herbals. My love for plants started at a young age with guidance from my grandpas and evolved into open doors of opportunities to work with the natural world.

I have immense gratitude for the teachers who have guided me on my journey. I started learning about plants by working with them. I have a decade of experience working with medicinal plants.in 2012 I spent two years co-operating a vegetable farm, where I planted my first medicinal herbal garden. After that I immersed myself in the prairies and forest learning to wild harvest herbs, my lessons came through learning by firsthand experience and curiosity. I received a certificate from The Herbalism Academy through studies in Materia Medica, clinical herbalism, advanced formulation, phytochemistry, herb drug interactions, and how herbs work with our bodies systems to create wellness.

I am always continuing my education through my teachers, literature, classes, and daily practice with the herbs. I believe deep heart centered connection with nature is the greatest teacher.

I am focused on using bio-regional herbs to support the wellness process. In this changing world we have the opportunity to connect deeply with the abundant nature around us. Not only to support our own healing process, but to protect, steward, and encourage preservation of our natural wild areas. I am here to support you in your herbal journey, and share my knowledge and experience through my remedies and creations.

About The Land

I am situated on the southern tip of the Driftless region in Northern Illinois. The farm sits at the juncture of two rivers on the outside of a small town, butting up to a Forest Preserve. I currently have an acre in production.

I don't use any pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers. I use sustainable farming practices and garden using the bio-dynamic calender.

Rarely I will source high quality herbs from small growers (local whenever possible) to add variety to blends. This is noted in the ingredients. But usually 100% of the herbs are either grown or wild harvested by me and my Ancient Herbals crew.

Even though I am situated on hundreds of acres of forest preserve I only wild harvest from private properties I have access to. I am grateful to have access to a couple of well m natural cared for prairies and forest areas in my bioregion. We always practice ethical wild crafting. This includes not taking large amounts of any one plant, we must be mindful of the need for those plants to seed and create new generations. I feel very lucky and grateful to be able to walk these lands and share with you the bounty they so willing provide.

I am honored and grateful to be able to work for the plants. Thank you for your interest and support. I hope my creations bring you wellness and joy as you continue to connect with the natural world and its powerful abundance of healing capabilities.
